Gimme Shelter is a Documentary film carried out in 1970 by Charlotte Zwerin and Albert Maysles. He reports the events of the American round of the Rolling Stones in November /décembre 1969 and more particularly the spectacle with the Madison Square Garden of New York and the concert of Altamont (California) where a young black of the name of Meredith Hunter, exhibant a revolver and, according to some, pointing it in direction of the scene, was disarmed and stabbed by a Hell' S Angels which was charged to deal with safety at the time of the concert. This concert also saw the services of the Jefferson Airplane, during which Marty Balin, singer and guitarist, was struck with the face by taking the defense of a spectator taken with part by the Hell' S Angels, Tina Turner, as Santana which will always refuse the least comment in connection with this concert. Three other spectators will perish during what wanted to be an answer to Woodstock. Two were crushed in their bags of bed by a roadhog under the effect of LSD, and another under the influence of the same drug will drown while wanting to take a bath. This film, during its projection in deprived, like by the moments " live" , watch the image of a group exceeded by its notoriety and incompetent to control his public, of many extracts showing the musicians, obliged to stop right in the middle of a song to put an end to a beginning of riot, the not knowing public too how to react vis-a-vis this outburst of violence, orchestrated by a service of order badly prepared and watered alcohol.
