Gilles Robert de Vaugondy

Gilles Robert de Vaugondy , known as Robert de Vaugondy (born in 1688 and deceased in 1766) is a Géographe French.

Grandson of Nicolas Sanson, it was named geographer of the king

He left:

  • a Large universal Atlas
  • a complete Atlas of the Revolutions of the Earth

He is the father of the geographer and cartographer Didier Robert de Vaugondy (1723 - 1786).

Another Robert, François Robert (1737-1819, of a different family, also wrote on the geography.
