Gilles Gilbert

Gilles Joseph Gerard Gilbert (born the March 31st 1949 with Holy Spirit with the Quebec) is a former player professional Hockey, which played station of goalkeeper in the National league of hockey for the North Stars of Minnesota, the Bruins of Boston and the Red Wings de Détroit.

Fished out by North Stars with the third turn, 25e on the whole, from the Fishing out amateur of the LNH 1969 of the Knights de London, Gilbert spends 4 seasons in the organization of North Stars before being yielded to Bruins in return of Fred Stanfield the May 22nd 1973. It will be the revolving point of the career of Gilbert, who, releasing itself from the shade of Cesare Maniago, became guard leaving to Bruins which sought to fill the departure of the Gerry Cheevers and Eddie Johnston.

It created sensation as of its first season in the uniform of Bruins, with a card of 34 victories, 12 defeats and 8 matches null, deserving a place with the match of stars and helping Bruins to reach the final of the Coupe Stanley. He will know another superb season in 1975-76, obtaining 33 victories against only 8 defeats and 10 matches null, before Gerry Cheevers does not make a return to Bruins and do not charm its station of therefore to him. It will continue to be the second guard of Bruins until in 1980; its solid play made it possible Bruins not to overwork growing old Cheevers and to know much success. It was thereafter yielded to Red Wings against Rogatien Vachon and, although he knew only little success with this team which did not go nowhere, he was nevertheless solid, preventing several matches from showing cuisantes defeats and bringing a good amount of leadership until his retirement in 1983.

He will have established a record in the LNH for the most consecutive victories, with 17.
