Gilbert Bécaud

Gilbert Bécaud (October 24th 1927 with Toulon, December 18th 2001 with Paris), of his true name François Gilbert Léopold Silly , of the name of the husband of its mother to her birth, director of the plays, is a Chanteur type-setter, pianist and Acteur. He takes again thereafter the name of his biological father, BECAUD.

He occurred 33 times on the scene of Olympia where he gained his nickname of " there; Mister 100.000 volts". He leaves the image of an electric man, always moving. Its Tie with pea, its some 400 songs and its hand on the ear at the time of its concerts is other images which marked the spirits.

Bécaud slipped from one song to another into the very different characters described by these three authors, maintaining his public in awakening… and enthusiastic if one judges some by the armchairs often broken by the agitation of the public.

This tie with pea was for him a fetish and an amulet because it has a history: Gilbert had studied the Piano and, still young person, sought work. But the owner said to him that it was impossible, taking into account the brand image of his establishment, because it did not carry a tie. Its piano

Gilbert Bécaud always occurred on scene with the same piano which had a characteristic: he was slightly tilted. Indeed, Gilbert made a point of seeing the room when he had sat with the piano and, for that, he had asked Jacques Dinnat (his manager) to make cut one of the three feet of the instrument in order to give him the slope necessary, which was carried out by a carpenter of the Paris region. This slope, hardly visible for an eye not informed, was sufficient to obtain the wanted result, without being awkward for its play or that of Gilbert Sigrist, pianist who accompanied it then regularly.
