Gil Elvgren

American artist born in 1914 with St Paul in the Minnesota and deceased the February 29th 1980.

It draws many advertizing posters for marks such as Coca-Cola, Ovomaltine or Brown&Bigelow of the Années 1930 with the Années 1960. This last company will order to him many calendars of Pin-up . Its illustrations will be used as inspiration for many Noseart but also for other artists.

Its technique consisted in photographing the model, then it to paint with a hyperrealism slightly exaggerated on the length level of the legs, hair and chest. These paintings were then reproduced to thousands of specimens. A rather significant number of these original commercial paintings are stored with the files of Brown & Bigelow with St Paul in the Minnesota. These works were generally carried out with oil on a fabric of format 76x61 cm.
