Gift Zagier

Don Bernhard Zagier is a mathematician born the June 29th 1951 with Heidelberg and specialized in Théorie of the numbers, theory of the modular forms and their bonds with the Topologie. It is titular pulpit of theory of the numbers to the Collège de France, with Paris and professor with the Max-Planck-Institute für Mathematik, with Bonn.

In 1972, Zagier supported a thesis of doctorate in mathematics entitled “ Classes of Pontryagin equivalent and applications to spaces of orbits ” carried out under the direction of Friedrich Hirzebruch to the Université of Bonn.

Zagier and Benedict Gross obtained the Prix Frank Nelson Cole in 1987 in the theory category of numbers for their theorem connecting the height of certain points (Point of Heegner) on a elliptic Courbe modular and the value in 1 of first derived from the Fonction L, prolongation analytical in the complex plan of an equation defining an elliptic curve.

He was the reader of Maxim Kontsevich.
