Gibert Joseph is a network of booksellers in France.
History
Resulting from separation with Young Gibert, Gibert Joseph shares with this group the same origin. Two years after its arrival with Paris in 1886, Joseph Gibert, opens a bookstore Saint-Michel boulevard. Previously secondhand bookseller, former professor de Traditional Lettres of Etienne Saint, consequently has a store, which will be specialized in the sale of schoolbooks of occasion. The prosperous establishment, and in 1915 the two Gibert wire, succeed their father with the head of the bookstore. It is only in 1929 that the elder one, Joseph, opened his own bookstore to the 30 of the boulevard (the current paper mill). Its junior preserves the historical bookstore, which takes then name of Gibert Jeune.The ensign Gibert Joseph developed thereafter in the Latin Quarter.
The company in parallel developed a network of bookstores in province: Dijon, Saint-Etienne, Clermont-Ferrand, Poitiers, Toulouse, Montpellier, and other big cities see appearing ensigns Gibert Joseph. The company currently has 29 stores, including 17 in France.
