Giants Stadium
The Giants Stadium (called The Meadowlands ) is a stage of American football which is in the Meadowlands Sports Complex, close to the Izod Center and the Meadowlands Racetrack, in the suburbs of New York to East Rutherford with the New Jersey.
It shelters two teams of American football which evolving/moving in two conferences different but in the same league NFL, the Giants of New York of the National Football Conference play there since 1976 whereas the Jets of New York of the American Football Conference are there since 1984. Since 1996, it accommodates the Red Bull New York in Football (soccer) which evolve/move in Major League Soccer. The Giants Stadium was also the residence of several teams of American football and Soccer pertaining to minor leagues like the New York Cosmos (NASL) of 1977 with 1984, the New Jersey Generals (USFL) of 1983 with 1985, the New York/New Jersey Knights (WLAF) of 1991 with 1992 and the New York/New Jersey Hitmen (XFL) in 2001. Its capacity is of 80.242 places for the American football, which makes of it the second greater stage in NFL behind the FedExField (91 704 places). It is also the eighth older stage of the league if one does not count the Soldier Field with Chicago which was rebuilt. It has 119 continuations of luxury and 142 seats of club. The stage is surrounded by a carpark which can contain 24.800 places.
History
Towards the end of the year 1960, after having played Yankee Stadium during much of years, a local sporting writer proposed an idea for a new sports complex which would include a stage of American football. The Giants of New York immediately were interested in this idea so that it becomes a reality. The team was wearied to play in the Yankee Stadium with the Yankees of New York of the major Ligue of baseball and this stage was especially built for the Base-ball. In August 1971, the Giants of New York signed a 30 years lease for the new stage. Built in the Meadowlands Sports Complex, close to New York in the New Jersey. Construction officially began the November 19th 1972. In the beginning programmed to be accomplished in 1975, several obstacles forced the opening of the stage has to be pushed back.The Giants Stadium was inaugurated the October 10th 1976 in front of 76.042 people who attended the defeat of the Giants of New York vis-a-vis the Cowboys of Dallas on the score from 24 to 14. The October 23rd 1976, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights of the Université Rutgers (New Jersey) inflicted a severe defeat 47-0 with the Columbia Lions of the Université Columbia of New York. The Giants of New York were the principal tenants at the stage until in 1984, when the Jets of New York moved since the Shea Stadium. To adapt to the varied events, the Giants Stadium had several surfaces of play in its history. AstroTurf was the original surface of the playing field. This surface was covered with fatty Bermuda shorts during the Football world cup of 1994. Since 2002, surface is made of a news artificial Pelouse of the FieldTurf type. The stage has a restaurant which can sit 2.000 people.
It also organized many matches of university American football like the Garden State Bowl of 1978 with 1981, the Kickoff Classic of 1983 with 2002 and the New York Urban League Classic since 2001. Last nine matches of the Football world cup of 1994 whose semi-final took place with the Giants Stadium like some of the Football world cup female of 1999. In 2003, the Supercoupe of Italy, a match between the winner of the championship and the cut was held in the stage with the victory of the Juventus Football Club over Milan AC. In 2005, many matches whose finale of the Gold Cup 2005 were played there here.
The concerts were also part of the experiment of the Giants Stadium , many artists like Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Grateful Dead, and Bon Jovi played in this enclosure. Bruce Springsteen played 10 nights lasting The Rising turn during the summer of 2003. Majority of the clip of the song " Paradise City" of Guns Pink at summer filmed at the stage in 1988.
The record of multitude of the stage took place the October 5th 1995, at the time of the visit of the pope Jean-Paul II with 82.948 spectators.

New stage
The September 29th 2005, it was announced that the Giants Stadium would be replaced by a new stage of $800 million USD which is programmed to be open in 2010. The New Meadowlands Stadium will comprise 82.500 places, 10.000 seats of club and 217 continuations of luxury. The Jets of New York had envisaged to move in a new stage covered with Manhattan in 2010. However, with the political defeat in June 2005 of the plan West Side Stadium, the Jets ended up agree to divide the New Meadowlands Stadium with the Giants. The January 25th 2007, the Swedish manufacturer Skanska announced that it would receive $998 million USD for the design and the construction of the New Meadowlands Stadium.
