Giacomo Dondi

Giacomo Dondi (1298 - 1359), called Horologius , doctor and Italian mechanic, born with Padoue in 1298, died in 1359

He invented a Horloge which marked, in addition to the hours, the revolutions of the sun and planets and the phases of the moon. This clock was placed in 1344 on the lathe of the palate of Padoue.

One has of him:

  • Promptuarium medicinse , Venice, 1481, compilation of remedies drawn from the Greek, Latin and Arab doctors.

His/her son, Jean Dondi, died in 1380, is also author of a famous clock, placed at Pavia.
