Giacomo Balled
Giacomo Balla is an Italian painter (Turin, July 18th 1871 - Rome, March 1st 1958). In 1909, it adheres to the futuristic movement Italian created by the poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti.
It is interested particularly in the dynamism of the color and the light. Fillette running on a balcony (1912) represents the result of its futuristic phase, with a division of the color in isolated spots which create the illusion of the movement. In 1915, it writes with the painter Fortunato Depero a proclamation entitled futuristic Reconstruction of the universe .
During the war, the workshop of Balled becomes a meeting place for the young artists but towards the end of the war, the futuristic movement shows signs of decline. After the war, it is directed towards the Cinéma and the Design.
In 1935, it is made member of the Academy of San Luca of Rome.
Participle with the Documenta 1 in 1955 balled with Kassel, in Germany, its works will be also shown in a posthumous way on the Documenta 8 in 1987.
Giacomo Balla dies in Rome on March 1st 1958.
