Ghulāt

Ghulat (Arab: غلت extremist, exaggerating) is the drifting adjective of the name Ghuluww (Arab: غلاة) (extremism, exaggeration). The term is used by the Moslems of the majority current to describe the minority Moslem groups Shiite, which from the point of view of the majority, exaggerates the statute of certain saint or family members of the prophet Mahomet (more the current being Ali. These groups would have gone too far in the attribution of the divinity to a person, up to the point (prohibited in Islam) to associate it with God.
