Ghosts off Mars is an American film of Science-fiction carried out by John Carpenter, left in 2001.

Synopsis

In 2176, Mars became a colony where a few thousands of colonists live who try terraformer with difficulty the planète.
The commander Helena Braddock (WFP Grier) and lieutenant Melanie Ballard (Natasha Henstridge) are sent with their brigade towards the mining city of Shining Canyon with for mission of putting the hand on a dangerous criminal, Desolation Williams (Ice Cube), in order to bring back it to the capital to be jugé.
there But the city where they unload seem empty curiously of its inhabitants. Penetrating front in the buildings of the prison, they discover a handle of prisoners and Désolation Williams locked up in the cells. One of them behaves curiously, mutilating and lacerating the skin. The corridors of the other dwellings are strewn with pieces of corpses and are decorated with sculpture metal to the barbarian and worrying aspect.

  • the film was turned in a mine of Gypse rented with Indians Zia Pueblo in the area of Albuquerque. Turnings took place the night. The gypsum being of white color, it had to be repainted the every day with a red dye biodegradable because of the bad weather.
  • the role of Melanie Ballard had at the origin being held by Courtney Love, but the latter was wounded with ankle a few weeks before the beginning of turning. The others remplaçantes possible were Michelle Yeoh, Franka Potente and Famke Jansen.
  • One of the counterparts of WFP Grier ( “Who goes there? ” in original version), explicitly refers to a preceding work of Carpenter since it is about the title of the novel of John W. Campbell whose the film The Thing is inspired.
