Gharb-Chrarda-Blessed Hssen

The area of Gharb-Chrarda-Blessed Hssen (in Arab: rear RTL الغربشراردةبنيحسين) is one of the sixteen areas Morocco. It is located at the North-West of the country. Its surface is of: 8805 km ² for a population of: 1859540 inhabitants. Its chief town is the town of Kénitra.

The area is made up of the following provinces:

These two areas gather with them two 61 rural communes and 12 urban communes.

Geographical limits

The area is limited to north by the area of Tangier-Tétouan, to the North-East by the Taza-Al Hoceima-Taounate area, to south-east by the area of Fès-Boulmane and the area of Meknès-Tafilalet, to the south by the area of Reduction-Salted-Zemmour-Zaër and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean.

Surface

The area covers an total surface area of: 8805 km ² distributed thus between the two provinces:

  • : 4745 km ² for the province of Kénitra

  • : 4060 km ² for the province of Sidi Kacem

The area reaches a surface equal to 1,2% that of Morocco
