Ghannouch
Ghannouch is a Tunisian city located at a few kilometers in the north of Gabès.
Attached to the Governorship of Gabès, it constitutes a municipality of 22.681 inhabitants.
Leant with a Oasis, it is a center of agricultural marketing important. Indeed, the oasis profits from an intensive culture irrigated with planted pieces of date palms (with a output of 35 kilos per tree), of fruit trees (pomegranates, Abricotier S, Pêcher S, Prunier S, etc) and of the market gardenings or grassy (alfalfa, various Légume S, in particular the Oignon, whose oasis of Ghannouch is the first producer of the country).
The city shares with Gabès an important industrialo-harbor zone extended along the Golfe of Gabès. It extremely shelters in particular a chemical complex pollutant of the fact in particular of a Usine of treatment of the Phosphate S which rejects harmful Phosphogypse for the fauna and the marine Flore.
The Tunisian Company of electricity and the gas envisages to inaugurate in 2009 there a power station of a production capacity of 400 MW functioning with the Natural gas.
