Ggantija

Ggantija (or Ġgantija or Ggantia) is the name of a whole of two Temples megalithic of Malta located on the island of Gozo (in the north of the island of Malta). They were set up during the Neolithic era (approx. 3600-2500) and it acts of two older complex world religious constructions having remained on the Mediterranean circumference without to be almost completely plundered, cut down or hidden. These temples preceded the pyramids by Egypt and Stonehenge (set up C. 5000 AC). These temples, because of the presence of statues or supposed figurines to represent a goddess of the fertility, are supposed to be dedicated to a worship of the fertility. But, as Maltese, the name evokes the “giants”, and the temples, according to a legend, would have been built by giants in order to be used as turns of guet.
