Getxo
The city is a commune of Biscay in the Basque autonomous Communauté, in the North of the Spain, it profits from a surface of 11,64 km ². It is located on banks of the estuary of the Nervión at the north of the agglomeration of Bilbao. The City gathering three distinct centers gathers more than 80.000 inhabitants.
The district S
The commune includes officially, the districts of Mow Arenas, Algorta, Neguri and Santa María de Getxo (Andra Mari). On the other hand, for them there exists a more precise division:
• Mow Arenas: with Las Arenas centers and Romo.
• Neguri: with Neguri, Aiboa there Gobela.
• Algorta: with Algorta centers, Sarrikobaso, Arrigunaga and Aldapas.
The districts of Mow Arenas and Neguri are born at the end of the XIX century. The district of Neguri is characterized by de luxe hotels where the middle-class lived and still nowadays the easiest people of Getxo live in this district.
The district d´Algorta c´est a district of large population of Getxo.
In the district of Santa María de Getxo/Getxoko Andra Mari one can meet a great quantity of country cottages and residences unifamiliers of 1990.
Localization
Located at 14 km of Bilbao, in Biscay, in the Basque autonomous Communauté, in the North of Spain, it profits from a surface of 11,64 km ². Its tourist framework attracting is born from its beaches (Mow Arenas, Ereaga, Arrigúnaga, Azkorri - Gorrondatxe and Salvaje - Barinatxe) and from the zone of the marina which has very advisable hotel resources. The zone of the Old port d´Algorta also is very attended. The Bridge of Biscay joint the district of Mow Arenas to Portugalete.As monument one can underline the bridge of Biscay (suspended bridge) declared Patrimoine of l humanity by l´UNESCO. C´est a transporter bridge with structure of iron which transports a boat hung by cables d´acier between Areeta and Portugalete. He transports cars and people jusqu´à 3500 kg and recently the upper part of the structure were open from where one has excellent panoramic sights. In the locality there are two rivers: Gobela and Kandelu.
Festival S
Annual musical festivals of jazz, blues and folk, fairs d´artisanat, contemporary art and a Comic Living room are celebrated.
