Gertrude de Helfta

Holy Gertrude de Helfta , still called Gertrude Large the , was born on January 6th 1256 and died on November 17th 1302.

Biography

Towards the five years age she was entrusted to the good care of the bénédictines monastery of Helfta, close to Eisleben (Germany).

Of a very sharp intelligence, she studies Latin, grammar, the literature and theology with passion. Become nun, at the 25 years age, it had several visions of which that of Christ addressing itself to it. It is the beginning of a deep mystical experiment which she reports in her Révélations .

Traditionally, she is celebrated the November 16th.
