Germanwings

Germanwings (Code AITA: 4U ; Code ICAO: GWI ) is a Airline company German E at low cost subsidiary company of Eurowings.

Its flights are organized around five principal platforms of correspondence ( hubs ) in Germany: Cologne, Stuttgart, Berlin - Schönefeld, Dortmund and Hamburg. In France, Germanwings serves the airports of Paris (Aéroport Roissy-Charles-of-Gaulle), Nice and Toulouse.

History

The company was founded in 1997 (under the name of " Eurowings Flug GmbH") and its activity with the October 27th 2002 began. It is had in its totality by Eurowings. Its principal competitors are other companies at low-cost like Ryanair and EasyJet or HLX.com.

In June 2005, Germanwings took order of 18 A319 at Airbus. These apparatuses will have 156 places. 12 options were also taken. The apparatuses will be delivered between December 2006 and 2008. Germawings also will acquire of MD-80 (10), MD-82 (1) and MD-83 (8)
