The title of the sovereigns of the Saint Germanic Roman Empire was emperor of the Romans , then starting from 1508 emperor elected of the Romans ( electus Romanorum imperator ). The emperor nomination was carried out by a college of princes, called voters. The sovereign elected by these princes was called King of the Romans until he is crowned by the Pape.
