German national library
The German National library ( of Deutsche Nationalbibliothek , DNB ) is the body in charge with the registration of copyright and the national bibliography of the the Federal Republic of Germany. It was created in 1990, after the Réunification, by the fusion of the Library German ( of Deutsche Bücherei ) founded in Leipzig in 1912 and become later the national library of the German Democratic republic, and the German Library ( of Deutsche Bibliothek ) founded in Francfort-sur-le-Main in 1947 and become later the national library of the the Federal Republic of Germany. It was founded under the name of German Bibliothèque ( of Die Deutsche Bibliothek , DDB) and was famous on June 29th, 2006. It is an establishment of federal public law equipped with legal capacity; its seat is with Francfort-sur-le-Main, with antennas with Leipzig and Berlin.
It is responsible for the collection and the cataloguing of all the German publications and German language published as from 1913. Its collaboration with the editors is regulated by the law, since 1935 for the establishment of Leipzig, since 1969 for that of Frankfurt, and since 1990 for the establishment resulting from their fusion.
