German botanical company
The German botanical Société ( Deutschen Botanischen Gesellschaft ) is a Learned society devoted to the founded Botanique in 1882 with Berlin. The purpose of non-profit making organization, this company is to represent botanical sciences in the German-speaking areas and to promote the scientific study of the plants as well in Germany as on the international plan.
The company makes appear the semi-monthly Plant Biology which succeeds Botanica Acta (1988 - 1998) itself having taken the continuation of Berichte der Deutschen Botanischen Gesellschaft (1882 - 1987).
Twice a year, the Company organizes a congress ( Botanikertagung ) in German language in a German-speaking university. Those allow in addition to the presentation of communication or poster, of the botanical excursions as well as the behavior of the general meeting of the Company. Prices are also distributed like the Price Wilhelm Pfeffer of the name of the botanist Wilhelm Friedrich Philipp Pfeffer (1845-1920) of an amount of 2.500 € and rewarding a thesis for doctorate in botany or the price Horst-Wiehe rewarding every two years a particular research in botany.
