The German New Guinea (in German Deutsch-Neuguinea ) was a Protectorat of the German Empire of 1884 with 1919 located in the Pacific Ocean Western.
Territories
German New Guinea included the totality of the German possessions in the Pacific except the German Samoa. It was made up of the following territories:- the Ground of the Emperor-Guillaume (north-eastern of the island of New Guinea);
- the Archipelago Bismarck;
- the Solomon of north (northern of the archipelago of the Solomon with the islands of Buka and Bougainville);
- the islands Carolines;
- the the Northern Marianna Islands (except Guam);
- the Marshall Islands;
- the Palaos;
- Nauru.
History
Colonization and creation of the territory
The annexation of the South-eastern part of the New Guinea by the Australian colony of the Queensland in 1883 brings an renewed interest of the German for the North-eastern part of the island more especially as the Dutch occupy of it already the Western part.
