German Louis

Louis Germain is a malacologist French, born the January 8th 1878 with Niort and dead the October 18th 1942 with Angers.

Teacher, it supplements his studies in Angers then in Paris. Graduate of a lience in sciences (1904) then of a doctorate in sciences (1907), it enters to the laboratory of molluscs, towards and zoophytes of the national Muséum of natural history directed then by Louis Joubin (1861-1935). After having occupied various functions, it replaces this last after its death. It directs the Natural history museum of 1936 to 1942.

Germain devotes himself almost exclusively to the Mollusque S which it approaches through their systematic, like theirs biology or of their anatomy. He directs Faune and flora of the Mediterranean which appears in two volumes in 1927 (invertebrates) and 1942 (vertebrate).
