Gerhard Ertl
Gerhard Ertl (October 10th, 1936 with Stuttgart -) is a German Physicien which obtained the Nobel Prize of chemistry in 2007 for its work in the field of the Catalyze of the chemical reactions of surface. He is professor emeritus at the Fritz-Haber institute of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft to Berlin.
He is graduate Université of Stuttgart.
Gerhard Ertl worked on the determination of the mechanisms, at the molecular level, of the catalytic reaction of the Ammoniaque on the Fer, and of the catalytic Oxydation of the palladium by the Carbon monoxide. He discovered the important phenomenon of the oscillatory reactions on surfaces of Platine and obtained, thanks to the electronic Microscopie, the first images of the changes observed during these reactions.
Ertl obtained the Nobel Prize in 2007 for its studies on the chemical processes on solid surfaces. Its work explains why the Couche of ozone of the atmosphere attenuates, how the catalytic pots function in the automobile field, and even why iron rusts.
