Gergovie

Gergovie (in Occitan Gergòia ) is the name which was given to the 19th century at the village of Merdogne on instruction of the emperor Napoleon III. It is a French village, depend on the common of Rock-White the in the Puy-de-Dôme with a few kilometers to the south of Clermont-Ferrand.

It is located at the foot of the Plateau of Gergovie which is regarded as the official place, but discussed, of the Bataille of Gergovie, opponent - near the city arverne of Nemossos (Gallic term indicating a “crowned wood”) - the Arverne S and other Gallic people gathered under the control of Vercingétorix, with the Roman legions of Jules César in 52 av. J. - C..
