Gerd Wessig

Gerd Wessig , born the July 16th 1959 with Lübz (Mecklembourg-Poméranie Western), is a former East-German athlete specialist in the High jump.

It was presented to the Olympic Games of summer of 1980 with Moscow with 2.30 m like better personal performance obtained with the championships of German Democratic republic. It obtained the gold medal by establishing new world records with 2.36 Mr. It was thus the first high jumper to improve world records at the time of Olympic Games of summer.

After these plays, it was tested with the Décathlon, carrying out 8015 points in May 1983 (equivalent at 7974 points according to the tabelles current ones). But often wounded, it was devoted then to the high jump.
