Gerard Thurnauer
Gerard Thurnauer , Architect born in 1926, is member of the Atelier of Montrouge of 1958 and 1981.
Activity of architect after the Workshop of Montrouge
Working only as from 1979, then in partnership with Antoine Aygalinc of 1989 to 2001, it carries out programs of social housing and public equipment in Paris and in Ia periphery and in particular the great program of the Northern Villette in front of the City of Sciences realized between 1986 and 1990 (residences, offices, hotels, trade, public place). It also builds in Saint-Denis of the Meeting (97) and there joins again with studies of town planning.
Responsible for the Master line of the sector of Rehabilitation and Restoration of the Gold Drop in Paris since 1984 and of overall coordination, he assumed successfully this responsibility until 1999. With the Morocco, where it returns in 1991, it produces the plan of installation of bay of Tarhazoute, in the North of Agadir (2000) including/understanding a tourist development of 20.000 beds and the reorganization of a satellite small town (10.000 inhabitants).
The studies and works carried out made the object of many publications in the specialized press and Frenchwoman and international, certain buildings being referred in guides of contemporary architecture or works of historians.
Member many jurys of contest of architecture, it will defend in that of Head Defense - Paris in 1982, the project of the Grande Arche of Spreckelsen until saving it and will ensure near the building owner a role of architect council during his realization (1986-1990).
Being interested as of his formation in the problems of the City, Gerard Thurnauer was vice-president of the association 75021 which allowed about fifteen architects, of launching in 1989 a proclamation on Large Paris. Its critical position was also noticed at the time of publications of articles in various reviews. Militant without slackening for the place of architecture in the City and his social role, his relationships to the formation and the culture, Gerard Thurnauer sat in many national authorities. Concerned of the relationship between art and architecture, it belonged to the Board of directors of the National center of the Visual arts.
