Other novels like from there the Plunderers of frescos will follow (1999), where twins manage to update a traffic of cave paintings; Curses strait (2001), history of a friendship between a holiday maker in Spain and one without paper; and Mantrap (2002) on a polemic opposing shepherds and defenders of the wolves…
Appeared with the Editions Whale in the collection “the Octopus”, its first novel black Case GB (2000) starts with the discovery of a body in the room of the files of the PC. The investigation of Octopus to the seat of the party will lead it to evolve/move in the medium SM of the capital. It will run up against the shades of the war of Spain. In 2001, at Whale, Streiff inaugurates with the Cellars of the Gold Drop , the collection “Polarchive”, a series of fictitious whodunnits founded on historical events then lit by the contemporary glance. In this first opus which gives rise to two recurring characters - Chloé, coed in history and Antoine, soixante-huitard, librarian and erotomaniac -, of the sulfurous files are updated forty years after the war of Algeria and make the light over the dark October 17th, 1961. The series which it directs receives a good echo in the press but stops in the shipwreck of Baleine after a second title. It will be started again with the Editions of the Passage and account in 2005 twelve titles.
On the ton of the joke, the War of let us croûtons (2002) tells a guerilla inter-générationelle between three old politicians with the rancart and of thirty year vain who monopolize the presidential campaign. In the Eyes of Lénine (2005), novel where the USSR of yesterday and Russia of today telescope, an archivist specialist in the USSR is found assassinated. A journalist who inherited his papers will understand that the disappearance of a photograph and the fear of its reappearance constitute the reasons of this murder.
With engaged novels, documented, and often in direct catch with the history, the work of Gerard Streiff is located in the line of Didier Daeninckx and Pierre Bourgeade, two authors whom he venerates.
