Biography

After secondary studies with Poitiers, Gerard Patris fits in a school of art to Paris. At the beginning of its professional path, it founds in Paris a workshop of Lithographie. This trade will enable him to meet many major artists of the post-war period for the realization of Estampe S like Dubuffet, Pignon, Manessier, Sonderborg, Arman, Hayter, Hartung or Matta. Gerard Patris married several times of which, in first weddings with Marie-Claire Schaeffer, girl of the Compositeur Pierre Schaeffer, often presented like the father of the Concrete music. This meeting will enable him to take part, under the direction of Pierre Schaeffer, with the research center of O.R.T.F to creation relating to the relations Its/Texte/Image. Gerard Patris is the founder of “Chesnaie Films”, unit of televisual Production whose workshops were based in the coaches of the private clinic of Chailles. Its various meetings with artists of the world of the music, painting, sculpture composed the base of its filmographic work.

1969: love of the life - Arthur Rubistein (Co-realized by François Reichenbach - 90 min).
