Gerard Longuet

Gerard Edmond Jacques Longuet , born the February 24th 1946 with Neuilly-sur-Seine, is a civil Administrateur and a Politician the French, member of UMP, old Député of the Meuse, former president of the district council of Lorraine and senator of the Meuse since 2001.

Liberal, Gerard Longuet is vice-president of the movement the reformers within the UMP.

Private life

Wire of Jacques Longuet, and Mrs., born Marie-Antoinette Laurent, a social worker, Gerard Longuet is married since the July 28th 1967 with Brigitte Fossorier, sister of Sophie Fossorier, ex-wife of the business man Vincent Bolloré.

The couple has four children: Tiphaine, Elects, Aurore and Marguerite.

Studies

After a schooling passed to the College Henri-Iv of Paris, it starts studies of Droit and letters. Graduate of l´ Institute of political studies of Paris and higher learning (OF) of Political sciences, it enters to l´ National school of administration (ENA) in 1971 and fate in 1973 (promotion François Rabelais).

During its studies of right and science-policies, it takes part in the side of Alain Madelin with the foundation of the movement Occident, favorable to the French Algérie and known for its violent actions against the movements on the left in the Latin Quarter of Paris. After the dissolution of Occident, it takes part in the foundation of GUD in December 1968, with Alain Robert.

Administrative career

Sub-prefect, he is initially director of the cabinets of the prefects of the the Eure (1973-74), of the Somme (1974-76) and of the Secretary of State near the Prime Minister Raymond Barre (1977-78).

Political career

In 1972, still student, it writes the first economic program of the National front, created the same year. 1978, it is appointed Meuse under the colors of the Union for the French democracy - Republican party. It loses its mandate in 1981.

A convinced European favorable to liberalism

Gerard Longuet is a politician in favor of the Libéralisme according to the designs defined by Adam Smith and also a convinced European who decided favorably in favor of all the European treaties. For him, the State must leave the place with the individual and the market instead of intervening in many sectors of the economic life and social. It is in favor of the economic Libre-échange and the lowering of the customs taxes at the borders so that the goods can circulate freely what is the case since 1992 within the European Union.

Public integrity

Gerard Longuet was implied in several legal affairs which had obliged it to resign of the government of Edouard Balladur in October 1994.

Returned initially in front of the magistrates' court for “concealment of abuse credit” in a business concerning the construction of its villa of Saint-Tropez (VAr), it was released in first authority, then by the Court of Appeal of Paris, in November 1998.

Continued for concealment of corruption in the Business of the government contracts of Ile-de-France, it was also released in October 2005.

Secret funding of the Republican party

It is put in examination in 1995 in the investigation into the Secret funding of the Republican party blaming the banker Alain Cellier, directing bank Nomura France. Storeroom would have set up a network of Panamanian companies, laying out of Swiss Comptes and perceiving commissions on important export markets.

During the judgment returned on February 16th, 2004 by the Magistrates' court of Paris in the shutter of the Fondo business, only the former president François Léotard and his old arm-right Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres are condemned to suspended sentences or of a fine for money laundering.
