Gerald Mayr is a German paleontologist specialist in the aviafaune of the Eocene and higher taxonomy in the birds. It is preserving ornithology with the Forschungsinstitut Senckenberg which depend on the Muséum Senckenberg with Francfort-sur-le-Main.
