Gerald Leblanc

Gerald LeBlanc , Acadian poet , born in 1947 with Bouctouche with the New Brunswick (Canada), died in 2005 with Moncton where he lived since his studies in 1971. Deeply Acadie N and North-American, Gerald Leblanc continued without slackening, by various ways, its research of the roots of its acadian identity. The quality and the abundance of its poetic work place it among the most important authors of modern acadian poetry. During twenty last years, it published about fifteen collections, of which " Geography of the night rouge" , " The extreme frontière" , " Laments of the continent" , " Most clearly of the temps" and its most recent, " Techgnose".

Very committed in literature, he on all fronts worked to stimulate and make known the “current voices” of the culture of Acadie. He was also the author, with Claude Beausoleil, of an anthology of acadian poetry. He was lyric writer for the acadian group of music 1755.

In 1993, the Management of arts of the government of New Brunswick decreed to him the Price Pascal-Pear tree for the whole of its work. In addition to its work of writer, it was often invited to give readings and conferences on acadian poetry a little everywhere to Quebec, in Canada, in the United States and in Europe.

It was among the founders of the Éditions Snowdrop which celebrate in 2006 them 25e birthday of foundation. In 1991, it was of the team which started again the publisher which had ceased publishing during three years. It is as from this moment that he became literary director of the publisher, a station which he occupied until March 2005.

He wrote the words of the song " The mornings habitables" on the album of the same name of Marie-Jo Thério.
