Gerald Kornelis van het Reve is a writer Dutch born the December 14th 1923 with Amsterdam, dead the April 8th 2006 with Zulte in Belgium.
Biographical elements
It signs its first works Simon van het Reve , Darger Taveherven (Anagramme of its name) before choosing the Pseudonyme Gerald Reve .
It belongs to the three major authors of the literature Dutchwoman of post-war period with Willem Frederik Hermans and Harry Mulisch. Its New " Werther Nieland" (1948) the world of the literature hustled. She is regarded today as a masterpiece with equal of her major novel " De Avonden" (Evenings).
Its novel Of vierde man (the Fourth Man, 1981) was carried with the screen by Paul Verhoeven in 1983.
Dream is one of the first homosexual writers Dutch to make its Coming-out. It often describes sexual relationships between men, which shocks many readers. Another of its topics of predilection is the religion. According to Dream, its novels speak about the release of the material society man in which he lives.
