Gerald is a group of Japanese of progressive Rock.

History
The group Gerald is taken along by the Claviériste Toshio Egawa. After having taken part in the Rumble groups in 1976, Cheese in 1976, Scheherazade starting from 1976, which becomes Novela in 1979 after a change of personnel, it founds Gerald in 1983 with Yukihuro Fujimura (song and guitar), Masaki Tanimoto (battery), Yasumasa Uotani (low). The group makes some concerts before recording its first album in spring 1984.The group leaves a second album in 1985, then, in 1986, their recording company King Records does not support any more the progressive one, and the group separates. Toshio Egawa joined the group of Earthshaker hard rock.
In 1990, Toshio Egawa reforms Gerald with Yukihuro Fujimura, Toshimi Nagai (low) and Kota Igarashi (battery) for the album “Irony off Fate”.
Following musical divergences with Yukihuro Fujimura, Toshio Egawa leaves, under the name “Tohio Egawa' S GERALD” an album solo of the name of “Save Night by the Knight”, with Toshimi Nagai, Kota Igarashi and Taku Sawamura (guitar).
Definitively separating the Earthshaker group, Toshio Egawa decides to reform Gerald at the end of 1994. It recruits Masuhiro Goto (battery), Atsushi Hasegawa (low), musicians resulting from the scene metal, and Robin Sucy (song). They leave “The Pendulum” 1996 and “Pandora' S Box” in 1997, before the departure of Robin Sucy. The group leaves the following albums as a trio, the sung parts being ensured by Masuhiro Goto and of the invited artists.
In 2004, the beater Masuhiro Goto leaves the group to join Ars Nova. It is replaced by Kenichi Fujimoto.
