Georgina de Albuquerque

Georgina de Albuquerque , born with Taubaté in the state of São Paulo in 1885, deceased with Rio de Janeiro, RJ in 1962, was a painter Brésil ienne.

Life and work

Georgina Moura of Andrade Albuquerque began its artistic studies in its birthplace, Taubaté. In 1904, it moved for Rio de Janeiro and started to study with the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes (ENBA), where it was the pupil of Henrique Bernardelli. At the School, she knew the painter Lucílio de Albuquerque, whom she married. When in 1906 Lucílio obtained the Price of Voyage to Europe of the ENBA, the couple left for the France, and remained there during the five following years, throughout their voyage of training. With Paris, Georgina was the first Brazilian one to enter to the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the fine arts, where it was the pupil of Paul Gervais and Adolphe Déchenaud; she also studied, like many Brazilian, with the Académie Julian, with Henri Royer. Of return to the Brazil in 1911, it carried out an exposure with her husband to the ENBA. With the passing of years, it assembled various individual exposures and took part in many collective exposures, even out of Brazil. Starting from 1927, it was devoted to teaching in the ENBA, institution which it also directed.
