Polemics

Business of contaminated blood

As a Minister for the social Affairs and National solidarity, it was blamed in the Affaire of blood contaminated with Laurent Fabius and Edmond Herve, his former Secretary of State in charge of Health and was considered and released by justice for “Manslaughter”.

After having been minister in the first Rocard government, it is attacked by various associations and the polemic on the contamination of transfused by the virus of HIV increases in the press. It is withdrawn from the policy in 1993 following a procedure against it and her husband in a business of occult commissions (concluded by a withdrawal of case).

She is shown into 1993 of manslaughter having resulted in death of three people, and for the contamination of two others. It is reproached to him for having delayed, for budgetary considerations, the installation of the systematic Dépistage of the donors blood and especially differed the entry pursuant to a fine decree putting at refunding not heated blood products, largely contaminated.

The lawsuit of the ministers when it had in February place and March 1999, intervened several years after the judgment of the former director of the National center of blood transfusion, Michel Garretta, and three other doctors for fraud (1992-1993). Laurent Fabius and Georgina Dufoix was released on March 9th, 1999.

The formula “ responsible but not guilty ” that it employed for its defense on TF1 in November 1991 remained famous.

This scandal caused, in addition to many public debates and legal operations, a constitutional revision which replaces the High-Court of Justice by the Court of justice of the Republic (CJR).

Parallel medicines

She also illustrated by her support for the parallel medicines: the September 12th 1984, it published a decree authorizing the homeopathic refunding of the preparations, and the December 13rd 1985, it stated in a press conference to want to organize a study randomized as a double homeopathic blind man on two products S, which everyone approved, but also to teach the Homéopathie and the Acupuncture and to devote a foundation to them.
