The teams of Hoyas take part in the university competitions organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Georgetown belongs to division Big East Conference while the team of American football evolves/moves in Patriot League .

The male team of Basket-ball is the most important section of Georgetown Hoyas. Present at the final furnace in 1943, 1982, 1984 and 1985, Georgetown gains the national title in 1984.
