Georges V of Hanover
Georges of Hanover born the May 27th 1819 with Berlin - deceased the June 12th 1878 with Paris.
He was king de Hanovre of the November 18th 1851 with the September 20th 1866 date of his deposition, duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Duc of Cumberland and Teviotdale, par of Great Britain, count d' Armagh for the paiery of Ireland.
Georges V is the cousin of the queen Victoria Ire of the United Kingdom. He still into force inherited the throne of Hanover because of the Salic law in the German States. He succeeded his father Ernest-Auguste Ier of Hanover in 1851. He was last king de Hanovre. In 1866, it lost its throne after the annexation of the kingdom of Hanover by the Prussia.

He was the only son of the king Ernest-Auguste Ier of Hanover and Frederique de Mecklembourg-Strelitz
Georges V of Hanover married the February 18th 1843 in Hanover the Marie-Alexandrine princess of Saxony-Altenbourg (girl of the Joseph large-duke of Saxony-Altenburg). From this union were born:
- Frederique of Hanover (1848-1926), which married in 1880 Alphonse baron de Pawel-Rammingen;
- Marie of Hanover (1854-1904), without alliance.
Youth of the crown prince Georges Frédérick to Hanover
Prince Georges Frédérick of Hanover passed his childhood to Berlin and to Great Britain. Following an infantile disease then with an accident during his adolescence, Georges Frédérick of Hanover was reached of blindness in 1833.
The August 18th 1835, his/her uncle, Guillaume IV of the United Kingdom did it Chevalier of the Jumper.
The crown prince
At the time of the death of his/her uncle Guillaume IV, after 123 years of division of the British throne and hanovrien, the two kingdoms were separate because of the salic law into force in Hanover. His/her niece, the queen Victoria Ire reached the throne of the United Kingdom. Ernest-Augustus, duke of Cumberland inherited the throne of Hanover and reigned under the name of Ernest-Auguste Ier, prince Georges Frédérick became crown prince to Hanover. Descendant of Georges III of the United Kingdom, he remained British family member royal, he was the heir to the queen Victoria Ire until the November 21st 1840, date of birth of the princess Victoria of the United Kingdom (1840-1901). Reached blindness, there were doubts concerning its aptitudes to reign.
Marriage
February 18th, 1843 prince Georges Frédérick of Hanover married the Marie princess of Saxony-Altenburg.
King de Hanovre
Prince Georges Frédérick reached the throne of Hanover at the time of the death of Ernest-Auguste Ier of Hanover on November 18th, 1851. From his father and his maternal uncle, prince Charles Frédérick de Mecklemburg-Strelitz, one of the most influential men at the Court of Prussia, Georges V of Hanover learned and adopted a high and autocratic position of royal highness. During his one fifteen years duration reign, Georges V of Hanover frequently engaged in conflicts with the Parliament of Hanover. In June 1866, it supported the Austria in the German Confédération, it refused, contrary to the councils given by the Parliament of Hanover, to respect the Prussian request which wished to see Hanover remaining neutral in the war austro-Prussian. Consequently, the Prussian army invades Hanover, the army hanovrienne went the June 29th 1866. Georges V of Hanover and his family escaped and settled in Austria. Prussia annexed Hanover the September 20th 1866.
Georges V of Hanover renonça never to his rights to the throne of Hanover and never recognized the annexation of his kingdom by Prussia.
Of his exile with Gmunden in Austria, Georges V of Hanover launched calls in vain, so that the European great powers intervene in the name of Hanover.
He was freemason.
Death of Georges V of Hanover
Georges V from Hanover died in Paris on June 12th, 1878, it was buried in the Saint-Georges vault with Windsor.

Georges V of Hanover belongs to the Maison of Hanover resulting from the Maison of Brunswick (Brunswick-Lüneburg), itself resulting from the downward Maison of Este of the dukes of Toscane.
Georges V of Hanover is ascending current chief of the royal House of Hanover, the prince Ernest-Auguste of Hanover (1954-) (Ernest-Auguste V of Hanover).
