Georges Muzalon
Georges Muzalon (? - 1258) were a high-ranking dignitary of the Empire of Nicée with the title of protovestiaire. Resulting from an big family it becomes the favorite of the emperor Theodore II. Filled gifts and grounds, it climbs in the hierarchy.
The emperor little before his death in 1258 appoints it Co-regent with the patriarch Arsène Autoriannos because the legitimate successor of Theodore, Jean IV is too young. But Georges Muzalon knows that he is not appreciated population and asks the Senate to elect a new regent. However the nobility of the empire confirms it in her functions. But 9 days later, with Magnesia whereas it took part in the funéraillex of the late emperor, Georges Muzalon is killed and dismembered by an attack of mercenaries Francs surely under the command of Michel VIII Paleologist who will become emperor shortly after.
