In 1953, appears the Method in lexicology of Georges Matoré . This work tries an new approach in Lexicologie: on the basis of the postulate that the Vocabulaire of a Civilization is revealing of this civilization itself, Matoré considers the vocabulary with a sociological aim historico- .
In 1985, Matoré proposes a first application of its method which relates to the vocabulary of the Moyen-âge ( the Vocabulaire and the company of the Middle Ages ); in 1988, it proposes the Vocabulary and the company of the XVIe century .
