Georges Héreil

Georges Héreil , born on August 28th 1909 with Paris, dead on December 4th 1980 in Geneva, in Swiss. It was buried in Cahors (Batch). He was lawyer and president of companies. He is known like, " Mr Caravelle" , and " père" Caravel, the plane of the Years 1960.

Raise with the Lycée Janson de Sailly (and with the Schola Cantorum because it had a very beautiful voice) in Paris, then with the Lycée Gambetta in Cahors, it obtains at 19 years, in 1928, its license in Right to the Faculty of Law of Paris. Attending the Faculty of 1929 to 1936, it specializes then in the bankruptcy law and becomes in 1936 official liquidator.

In 1946, after the war, Georges Héreil is named, 39 years, chair SNCASE which will become South-Aviation in 1957. A few months before it had been indicated to liquidate the bankruptcy of this company of aeronautics. It launched at once the construction of two prototypes of the “Caravelle”, which will be the first average mail with French reaction, put in service the May 15th 1959. It decided also production of the “Vampire” and “Mistral”, the first jet fighters French and that of the Hélicoptère S with turbine “Alouette”… Georges Héreil accepts, jointly, of another posts of Presidency or administrator: (Paper mill of the Vault, Hotel trade, CSF, Schneider, Lehman Brothers International…)

In 1963, disapproving the creation of the plane Harmony, it leaves South-Aviation. In 1964, little before Chrysler Corporation does not take 63% of the shareholding of Simca, its founder and chairman Henri Theodore Pigozzi resigns and its place leaves him. Chrysler takes again also the Rootes group in England, the same year. To the autumn 1966, Simca presents its models Simca 1301 and 1501; in spring 1967, the half-compartment 1200S; with the autumn 1967, the Simca 1100; in February 1970, the Rally… This year there, the summer, Simca takes the name of Chrysler France, whose Georges Héreil becomes president. He is then vice-president of Chrysler International in Geneva, then in Detroit… He is, after 1974, president of the board of trustees of several important industry groups.

Georges Héreil was member of the General advice Lot. Owner with personal capacity of the castle of Laroque-of-Arcs, it also repurchased moreover, in the years 1960, the castle of Mercuès, old palate of the count-bishops of Cahors become a hotel well before the war, and did large work of rehabilitation there. He was Commandeur of the Legion of Honor.
