Georges Gusdorf
Georges Gusdorf (1912-2000): philosopher and epistemologist French, born in Bordeaux in 1912 and dead on October 17th, 2000, with the 88 years age. Resulting from a Protestant family originating in the east of France, it is one of the large thinkers of this century and is the author of a monumental work (33 pounds published).
Former student then prefect of studies to the National university (ENS) of Paris, he was professor with the Université of Strasbourg. Raised Gaston Bachelard, he was Master of Althusser and Foucault at the National university.
After its studies with the Sorbonne in the years 1930, at the time of Andre Lalande and Emile Bréhier, it came to Strasbourg to occupy in 1948 the pulpit of general philosophy and logic, whereas it was repeater with the ENS, where it had succeeded Merleau-Ponty. It had then published only one thesis, the Discovery of oneself , matrix of its future work on the memory and written during its long captivity with Lübeck, during the Second world war.
