Georges Gurvitch

Georges Gurvitch is a Sociologue French (naturalized in 1928), born on November 11th 1894 with Novorossiisk in Russia, deceased with Paris the December 12th 1965 in France.

Specialized in the Sociology of knowledge, he is a heir to Marcel Mauss, from which he borrows the concept of total social Phénomène. He was also one of the precursors of the legal sociology, and in particular inspired Roscoë Pound.
