Georges Furrier (journalist)

Georges Pelletier (July 10th 1882 - January 20th 1947) was a journalist, a lawyer and a professor Québécois. He is known to have been the director of the newspaper the Duty of 1932 with 1947.

Born with River-of-Wolf, it makes its studies with the Collège of Holy-Anne-of-the-Pocatière and the Université Laval, then it is allowed with the Barreau of Quebec in 1904. Editor of the newspaper of his native village, it collaborates then for several nationalist periodicals, of which the catholic Social action .

In 1910, it joint with the Owe where he exerts initially the trade of correspondent to the parliamentary Colline. He teaches also social sciences with the Université of Montreal of 1921 with 1924.

When it takes the head of the Owe in 1932, the newspaper, while being opposed to the conscription, is clearly influenced by the Extreme-right-hand side, giving its support to the organization Young person-Canada. The caricaturist Robert the Palm draws regularly caricatures Antisémite S.

In 1942, Pelletier is member of the council of the Ligue for the defense of Canada and it directs the council of the Canadian Presse. He dies in Montreal the January 20th 1947.
