Georges Fatôme

Georges Fatôme , deceased on November 21st, 2006 with Tourlaville, is a French politician.

Militant SFIO, it enters to the municipal council of Tourlaville in April 1945, on the “republican list of social action and communal” of the radical Camille Leclerc, and becomes third assistant. In 1947, without being chief candidate of “laic and socialist concentration” and becomes one of youngest French mayors on October 31st.

Mayor of Tourlaville during one half-century, it is that which accompanied the change by the town of a rural territory to a urban district, through for example the construction of schools and the creation of an artisanal zone and an industrial park.

It also militated for the establishment in its commune of INTECHMER, first establishment of higher education of the Cotentin. It takes part in the creation of the Urban community of Cherbourg as vice-president, and in its evolution as president, being opposed however to Large-Cherbourg. At this station, it accompanies the establishment by the Nuclear plant of Flamanville.

It was, with Louis Darinot, one of the pillars of the Socialist party of the Manche. Strongly anchored in its commune, and equipped with a strong personality, he does not hesitate to go against the authorities of his party, causing a beginning of opposition interns at the end of the years 1980.
