Georges Dor

Georges Dor (born in Drummondville the March 10th 1931 under the name of Georges-Henri Gilds , dead in 2001) was an author, Compositeur, Dramaturge, Chanteur, Poète, Traducteur, producer and Réalisateur of Théâtre Québécois.

Dor undertook a career with the radio as an organizer in a musical program and a director of information. He worked in Radio-Canada to become realizer with the téléjournal of the company of State. He was also collaborator with the newspaper Libre Nation.

Georges Dor always wrote receuils of poems. In 1964, it was encouraged by friends to take part in contests of song amateur. He started to sing at the beginning of 1965 professionally and left its first album in 1966. One of the songs of this album, its composition the Lament of Manic , whose words were a love letter written by a workman of construction on the hydroelectric project of stopping of Manicouagan, became a success without precedent. It takes part in the Night of poetry March 27th, 1970.

It continued to occur as a singer until 1972 and recorded until 1978. He worked then mainly for the theater and television, producing and writing televised parts and novels. He wrote several Romance and published collections of Poésie, among other artistic works and critical analyzes.
