Georges Dargaud
Georges Dargaud (born the November 24th 1911 with Paris - deceased the July 18th 1990 with Paris) was a French editor cartoons.
Biography
After menus work in the press and publicity, Georges Dargaud creates in 1943 the Éditions Dargaud, and in 1949 becomes the French editor of the Journal of Tintin. It will publish Tintin during twenty-seven years. In 1959, it publishes the newspaper Pilote . With Dupuis, Dargaud becomes the publisher which introduces the Cartoon in France: Astérix, Lucky Luke, Achilles Talon, etc It still publishes Moebius and Jean-Michel Charlier ( Blueberry ), Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières ( Valérian ), Annie Goetzinger, Bilal, etc and lance the adult cartoon. But the crisis which touches the sector gradually will oblige Georges Dargaud to give up in 1988, two years before its death, the cartoon to devote itself to her other activities of editor.
