Georges Charpy

Augustin Georges Albert Charpy , born with Oullins on September 1st 1865 and died in Paris the November 25th 1945, is a French chemist.

Biography

He makes his studies with the Polytechnic school (X1885 promotion) (1885 - 1887). He is professor with the École Monge in 1887, and writes a thesis in Physique in 1892. He begins an industrial career as engineer with Saint-Jacob (Forge S of Chatillon- Commentry New-Houses), and becomes in 1916 chief technical officer.

In 1919, it is elected member of the Academy of Science, in the section of the applications of science to industry. It enters then to the steel-works of the Compagnie of the forging mills and steel-works of the marine and Homécourt with the title of assistant to the managing director. In 1920, it is named professor of Métallurgie to the School of the mines, then in 1922 professor of general Chimie in Polytechnique.
