Georges Carnus
Georges Carnus (born the August 13rd 1942 with Gignac-la-Nerthe) is a former professional goalkeeper of Football. Gatekeeper of class international, calm, athletic, and sure with hands, it knew his first selection in team of France has in 1963 (at twenty years only) vis-a-vis Brazil and Peeled, which marked itself to him the three goals of a short victory 3-2 in Paris. Carnus evolved/moved then in the best French teams of the time (Saint-Etienne, Marseilles) where it gained four championships and three Coupes of France. It could have known the international repute without the bad performances of the team of France of the time and the hard competition of Marcel Aubour which limited its total of selections to 36. Its career was completed tragically in 1974 following a serious automobile accident between Laval and Vitré (June 28th 1974) in which his wife and her two daughters perished and it was itself very seriously wounded. It will then be replaced with aims of Marseilles by Gerard Migeon… which had replaced it with the ACE Saint-Etienne when Roger Rocher drove out it of the team at the same time as Bernard Bosquier in 1971.
