Georges Brutelle

Georges Brutelle is resistant, a politician and a French business man born on November 20th, 1922 with Paris and dead on February 4th, 2001 with Mougins.

Biography

Georges Brutelle passes his childhood in the Somme, then between at the Teacher training school teachers of Rouen. Since 1935, thirteen years old, it creates a socialist group with the complementary course. Its engagement in the Résistance is him also early. As of July 1940, it organizes a group of resistant socialist students of Rouen. This group publishes as from January 1941 a clandestine newspaper, Jaurès . Forward, appears celebrates it towards Victor Hugo in the Punishments : “And if there remains only one about it, I will be that one.”

The network of Georges Brutelle gradually extends his activities to the collection of information, then with the actions of sabotages. Decree in November 1943, Georges Brutelle is imprisoned with Fresnes, then with Compiegne, and then off-set with Buchenwald. In this Concentration camp, it constitutes with Eugene Thomas a clandestine socialist section.

From 1945 to 1947, he is general secretary of the National federation of the deportees and internees of the Resistance (FNDIR), which gathers the resistant ones of all political tendencies, except for the Communists. He enters to the management committee of the SFIO in 1946 and becomes assistant general secretary in 1947, at twenty-five years only. From 1951 to 1956, he is moreover secretary of federation SFIO of Seine-Maritime. According to with interest the detachment of the Soviet block operated by Tito, Georges Brutelle ties contacts with the Yugoslav leaders since 1950.

Near to Guy Mollet during the Fourth Republic, Brutelle is detached some as from 1958. It does not divide the opinion of the general secretary on the return of Charles de Gaulle to the capacity, nor, thereafter, its sights on the future of the SFIO. Georges Brutelle leaves his leading functions in 1965, and withdraws political life at the end of the years 1960. He turns then to the businesses.

From 1968 to 1974, it directing of the foreign relations, then executive vice president and, to finish, managing director of the construction and real Survey firm (SECIM). From 1969 to 1972, he is also joint manager, then president of the board of trustees, the Company Norman of republican press, which publishes Paris Normandy . Georges Brutelle in vain tries to prevent the purchase of this daily newspaper by Robert Harrowing, then agrees to work for the group of this one. He becomes thus director of Gerpresse in 1974, and director of the Car-newspaper in 1976.
